Circulatory system

Cards (17)

  • Circulatory system - (cardiovascular) life support structure the nourishes your cell with nutrients from the food you eat and oxygen from the air you breath. Community of cells sustains the body to stay alive
  • Heart - pumps blood throughout the body
  • Blood vessels - Carries blood throughout the body
  • Arteries - carry oxygenated blood away from the heart to the cells of the body
  • Veins - carry oxygenated blood to the heart
  • Capillaries - smallest blood vessels that connect arteries and veins. Site where gasses exchange
  • Blood - The fluid that carries nutrients, oxygen, and waste products around the body.
  • Circulation of the blood
    • Pulmonary circulation
    • Coronary circulation
    • Systemic circulation
    • Oxygenated
    • Deoxygenated
  • Pulmonary circulation - movement of blood through the heart to the lungs and back to the heart
  • Coronary circulation - movement of the blood through the tissue of the heart
  • Systemic circulation - movement of blood from the heart to the rest of the body excluding the lungs
  • Oxygenated - high level in oxygen
  • Deoxygenated - blood that has not been oxygenated by the lungs and is returning to the heart, rich in carbon dioxide
    • vena cava - carries deoxygenated blood from the body to the heart
    • Right atrium - receives blood from the pulmonary veins and pumps it into the left atrium
  • Right ventricle - pumps blood to the lungs for oxygenation
    • Vena cava
    • Tricuspid
    • Right ventricle
    • Pulmonary valve
    • Left atrium
    • Bicuspid valve
    • Left ventricle
    • Aortic valve
    • Aorta
