Cards (16)

  • Respiratory system - the organs that are involved in the process of breathing.
  • The air we breathe goes through the nose nasal passages and then through the trachea which splits into the bronchi entering each lung.
Analogous to the branching pattern of grapes finally becoming hair like Bronchioles
  • Nose - entrance of air
  • Nasal cavity - the air is filtered
  • Pharynx - controls the passage of air through the lungs
  • Larynx - the organ of voice, located at the entrance to the trachea aka as voice box
  • Trachea - A tube that carries air from the mouth to the lungs main passage way or windpipe

  • Bronchioles - branching of bronchi, smaller airways that lead to alveoli tiny tubes ( hairlike)
  • Alveoli - Small air sacs in the lungs that are filled with air and have a large surface area exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide gas exchange, most important event
  • Artery blood flows here attached to
    Vein. Alveoli
  • Diaphragm - controls the the breathing process creates spasm which causes hiccups
  • Asthma - Chronic inflammatory disease of the airways that causes wheezing and difficulty breathing
  • Breath in - inhale oxygen
  • Breath out - exhale carbon dioxide
