Procedure

• Controlled observation at Yale university
• Participants introduced to Mr Wallace (a cofederate)

  Participants drew slips to decide who was teacher and learner (P’s always ended up as teacher as was rigged)
• After the draw, seperated teacher and learner room

  Learner strapped to eletric chair
• milgram gave the confederate instructions to get around 3 answers wrong and make a sense of responses to the “shocks”
• Teacher taken to shock room which had machine

  15 volts - slight shock

  XXX - 450 volts
• “Experimentor” in a grey coat acted as an authority figure to test obedience and administed shock and told teacher to increase voltage with prompts to continue
